Overview

The "GST registration required" XBert alerts Australian businesses that have met or are close to meeting the GST turnover threshold but are not yet registered for GST. Timely registration is essential to remain compliant with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements.

What it does

XBert automatically monitors your business’s annual revenue during data synchronisation and checks whether it has reached or is approaching the GST registration threshold.

If your business:

  • Has exceeded the GST turnover threshold, or

  • Is projected to exceed the threshold soon
and is not registered for GST, this XBert is triggered to prompt timely registration.

How it works

XBert checks your annualised gross revenue, excluding GST, and compares it against the Australian threshold for GST registration:

  • $75,000 for most businesses

  • $150,000 for non-profits

  • No threshold for ride-share, taxi, or limousine services

If your actual or projected turnover exceeds the relevant limit, the alert will fire to remind you to register within 21 days, as required by the ATO.

Example/Use Case

Barry, a sole trader selling automotive parts, earns a steady monthly income. In May, his gross revenue pushes his 12-month total to over $75,000. Barry hasn't registered for GST yet. XBert identifies the threshold has been crossed and raises this alert so Barry can act within the required 21-day window to register, avoiding penalties.
