You can update the Start Date of a task at any time. Adjusting the Start Date helps keep timelines accurate and ensures any related dates or title tokens remain aligned with your intended schedule.
Note: You must have admin access to edit a task's start date.
How to change a task’s Start Date
Open the task you want to update.
In the task tile, locate the Timeline tab in the action bar at the right.
Click the Edit Start Date (pencil icon) next to the Start Date.
Select a new date from the calendar picker.
Click Save to confirm your change.
What happens when you change the Start Date
The task’s start date will be updated immediately.
Changing the Start Date does not automatically update title tokens — if your workflow title uses a token (like a month or period name), you may need to use the Update Title option in the Advanced section to bring the title in line with the new Start Date. More about this here.
Tips
If a title includes a period (e.g., BAS Monthly – October) and it doesn’t match the new Start Date after you save, check the Advanced section for an Update Title button.
Adjusting the Start Date does not affect the task’s history — all changes remain in the activity log.
