XBert runs hundreds of checks across your ledger for every client, in every country. On top of those global checks, New Zealand clients get a set of NZ-specific XBerts that use the official NZBN (New Zealand Business Number) register to validate the suppliers and customers you trade with. This page explains what we use from the NZBN, lists the NZ XBerts, and shows how they fit with the global ones.
What we use from the NZBN register
XBert refreshes data from the NZBN register daily and uses it to check the businesses on your ledger:
Registration status — whether a business is Registered, Removed (struck off / deregistered), or Inactive.
Insolvency status — whether a business is In Liquidation, In Receivership, In Statutory Administration or under Voluntary Administration (including combinations).
GST number — where the business has chosen to disclose its GST number on the register.
Entity matching — we match your suppliers and customers to the register by NZBN, GST number and business name. High-confidence matches (by NZBN or GST number) are used to raise risk alerts; name-only matches are treated as lower confidence so a same-name business is never mistaken for your contact.

How these fit with XBert's global XBerts
The NZ XBerts above are in addition to XBert's global checks, which run for every client regardless of country — cash flow and bank reconciliation, duplicate bills and payments, payroll and superannuation, coding and GST/tax treatment, lock dates, and more. The NZ XBerts simply add New-Zealand-specific validation (using the NZBN register) on top of that baseline.
