š± These steps are for the XBert Capture app
They describe what you'll see in the app itself, on a phone or in a browser, from setting it up for the first time through to using it day to day.
XBert Capture is a separate app from XBert. Anything that happens inside XBert is covered in the collections for your firm.
Why you have a PIN
Typing your email and waiting for a code every time would be slow. Your 6-digit PIN lets you open XBert Capture and get straight in. In the phone app, you can use Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint instead of typing it.
This article covers setting your PIN up, unlocking the app, changing your PIN, and what to do if you can't get in.
Set up your PIN
You don't need to go looking for this. Create Your PIN appears by itself the first time you sign in.
On Create Your PIN, tap in six digits. It moves on by itself after the sixth, so there's no Next button.
On Confirm Your PIN, type the same six digits again. If they don't match, you'll see PINs do not match. Please try again. To choose a different PIN, tap Start Over.
You'll see PIN Created! and the app opens.
ā ļø Choose a PIN you'll remember
Nobody can look your PIN up for you. If you forget it, you can set a new one. See If you can't get in below.
Turn on Face ID or Touch ID
If your phone already has Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint unlock set up, you're asked straight after creating your PIN: Would you like to use Face ID for faster sign in? (It names whichever type your phone uses.)
Tap Enable and confirm with your face or fingerprint to turn it on.
Tap Not Now to skip it. You can turn it on later in Settings.
š” You won't always be asked
You're only asked if face or fingerprint unlock is already set up on your phone. It isn't available when you use XBert Capture in a browser, so there you always use your PIN.
Unlock the app
Once you have a PIN, that's how you get back in. When you open the app again, you'll see Welcome Back with your name. You won't need your email or a code again unless you sign out.
With your PIN: tap in your six digits. It unlocks as soon as the last one is right.
With Face ID or Touch ID: if you turned it on, your phone asks for your face or fingerprint (Authenticate to access XBert) as soon as the screen opens.
š” Your PIN always works
Face ID and Touch ID sit on top of your PIN. They don't replace it. If your face or fingerprint isn't recognised, or you cancel, type your PIN instead.
Change your PIN
Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the menu at the bottom of the screen. On a large computer screen, click Settings in the menu on the left.
Under Account, tap Change PIN.
On Enter Current PIN, type the PIN you use now.
On Enter New PIN, choose a new 6-digit PIN.
On Confirm New PIN, type it again. To begin again, tap Start Over.
PIN Updated! appears and closes by itself.
Turn Face ID or Touch ID on or off later
This is only in the phone app, and only if face or fingerprint unlock is set up on your phone.
Go to Settings.
Under Account, find the switch named after your phone's type, for example Face ID, with Use Face ID to unlock the app underneath.
Turn it on, and confirm with your face or fingerprint when your phone asks. To go back to your PIN only, turn it off.
If it can't be turned on, you'll see Failed to enable biometric authentication. Check that face or fingerprint unlock is set up in your phone's own settings, then try again.

If you've forgotten your PIN, you're not locked out for good:
On the Welcome Back screen, tap Sign out / Switch account. This signs you out straight away.
Sign in again with your email and the code we send you.
Set a new PIN when you're asked.
