Why archive a conversation?
Once a job is done, its conversation doesn't need to keep sitting in your client's list. Archiving puts it away without deleting anything, and you can bring it back whenever you want.
Before you start
The client has to be connected to their accounting software. XBert Capture isn't available for clients who aren't connected.

XBert Capture has to be switched on for that client, or the Client Chat (Beta) tab won't be there.

Archive it
On the work item, click the Client Chat (Beta) tab.
At the top of the panel, next to Archive Chat, click ON.
The messages are hidden and you'll see This conversation has been archived, with a reminder that the switch above brings it back. The message box disappears too, so nobody can add to it while it's away.
💡 Nothing is deleted
Every message, file and shared task stays exactly where it was. Archiving only puts the conversation out of the way.
Bring it back
On the Client Chat (Beta) tab, click OFF next to Archive Chat.
The messages come back and you can carry on where you left off.
What your client sees
An archived conversation becomes read-only on their side. They can still open it and read back through it, but they can't add to it.

If the switch is greyed out
Hover over it and you'll see You do not have permission to archive this conversation. That means you have read-only access, and an admin can change who's allowed, per client.
