Two ends of one conversation
Client Chat is how you and your client talk about a piece of work without leaving XBert and without email.
Your side | The Client Chat (Beta) tab on a work item, inside XBert. |
Their side | The Chats list in the XBert Capture app, on their phone or in a browser. |
It's the same conversation in both places. What you send appears in their app, and what they send appears on the work item.
💡 One conversation per work item
Each work item has its own thread, so the conversation stays attached to the job it's about. It's created the first time someone opens the tab.
Find it
Open a work item.
Down the side, click the Client Chat (Beta) tab.
If you can't see the tab
Why | What to do |
XBert Capture isn't switched on for that client. | Switch it on.

The work item isn't for a client. Tasks that sit at your firm's level have nobody to chat with. | Open a work item that belongs to a client. |
Your firm's User Permissions for that client don't include you. | An admin can change who's allowed, per client.

How you'll know a client has written
The tab is marked on the work item until you open it.
It appears in your Activity feed as a client chat entry. Click it and you land straight on the conversation.
There's no separate alert for a client sending in a receipt, so the chat is usually how you'll hear from them.
What your client sees
Your message arrives in their Chats list in XBert Capture, and they're notified on their phone. They reply from there.
