Can My Client See That Their File Is Connected to XBert?

Yes. XBert appears in your client's connected apps in Xero. What your client can see, and what stays private in XBert.

Written by Sunniva Andersen

When you connect a client's file to XBert, that connection is made through your accounting software's standard app connection. This article explains what your client can and can't see as a result.

Yes, XBert appears in your client's connected apps

Once you connect a Xero file to XBert, XBert is listed in that organisation's connected apps in Xero, alongside any other apps that file uses.

  • whether you or your client authorised the connection, and

  • whether or not your client has ever signed in to XBert.

The connection is made to the Xero organisation itself, not to an individual person's login, which is why it's visible to anyone with access to that file in Xero.

What your client can see

The XBert app name in their connected apps list. That's all.

What your client cannot see

Nothing inside XBert is visible from their accounting software.

That includes:

  • the alerts and risks XBert raises on their file

  • your tasks, workflows and schedules

  • your team's notes and comments

  • your reports and insights

  • any of your other clients

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

My client removed XBert from their accounting software

  • A client file has stopped syncing, and XBert shows the file as disconnected.

If the app connection is removed on the accounting software's side, XBert can no longer sync that file. You'll need to reconnect it.

Go to Clients > Connections (https://app.xbert.io/app/clients/connections), and click the Connect icon in the Connection column for that client.

I can't tell whether a file is connected

  • You're not sure if a client's file is currently connected to XBert.

Go to Clients > Connections (https://app.xbert.io/app/clients/connections).

The Connection column shows a checkmark icon for connected files, and a Connect icon for files that aren't connected yet.
