Your XBert account comes with a standard set of processes already in place, and XBerts are mapped into them. Templates are different: nothing is loaded automatically. There is a standard set available, and you choose whether to add it from Automation > Templates.
That set is a starting point for automating the recurring work your practice does each week, month and quarter, so you are not building it all from scratch. It was put together with accounting and bookkeeping practices, and reflects the tasks a bookkeeper or accountant actually repeats in their accounting system.
How it fits together
Four things work together to turn a template into work on someone's list:
Process is the folder the work sits in, such as Payroll, BAS or Month End. It is how you and your team navigate the work view.

Template defines the work itself: a title, a description and the steps involved.

Subtasks are those steps, each with its own title and description, and optionally a link straight to where the work is done.
Schedule is attached to a template and decides which clients get the work and when. Nothing is created until a template has a schedule.

That separation is the point. A template stays generic across your whole practice, and anything client-specific goes in a note rather than in a separate copy of the template. It saves you maintaining a version per client.
Keeping only what you need
The standard set is grouped by business function, so you can take some of it and leave the rest. If you do not do payroll, or you only do it for some clients, the payroll templates can be scheduled to those clients alone, or dropped entirely.
You can edit any of them, delete the ones you will not use, and add as many of your own as you like.

Template sets by country
There are separate sets for several countries. Most practices use just one.
